The PIEL Group has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability management: The company was awarded gold status in the EcoVadis assessment and is now among the top 5% of the companies assessed. With this award, PIEL was able to surpass the silver status it had previously achieved and underlines its commitment to sustainable corporate governance.
EcoVadis is one of the world’s leading platforms for assessing the sustainability performance of companies. The assessment is based on four key criteria: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement. This takes into account not only company policies and practices, but also the concrete implementation and the impact on the supply chain and society.
Another important component of PIEL’s sustainability strategy is the fact that the company has been operating in a climate-neutral manner since 2019. PIEL has already shown in 2021 that real, authentically lived sustainability is not a foreign word for PIELaners by founding its own social start-up WaldLokal. WaldLokal is a non-profit reforestation initiative that uses donations to reforest cleared municipal forest areas in Germany. This is a matter close to the heart of the PIEL management.
